Guess who is the next designer to collaborate with Adidas Originals- It’s our very own Kitsch Queen Nida Mahmood. The designer is back this season at the Amazon India Fashion Week with her Spring/Summer 2016 collection on October 7, 2015. The collection tiltled “Junglee Billi” has taken inspiration from Bombay in the 60’s, “where delicate Art Noveau met the Industrial Revolution and Bollywood Bloom. Junglee Billee is a dedication and a celebration of this extraordinary city and its rare women and their untameable free spirit; poetically translated onto art, architecture and apparel with a purr and a meow,” explains the designer.

The silhouettes are inspired by the boxy fluid characteristics of the Art Nouveau style of art. Inevitably, prints create the most important aspect of the collection, “These have been developed keeping in mind the strong yet fluid nature of Art Nouveau. Subtle yet with a strong language, the prints and colors work hand in hand to create the collection.”

The designer has used print-friendly fabrics like georgettes, crepes and neo-prene extensively in a soft color palette, ranging from soft blues to lemons to pale oranges. Nida Mahmood will be showcasing her collection on the runway after a long hiatus of almost a year (last showcase at WIFW S/S 2015). So what kept designer Nida Mahmood motivated during the whole design process?

“The quest for creating something new and fresh and being able to break boundaries,” concludes the designer.
