Want a break from your daily routine of black liner | Try blue, the coolest colour for Spring 2016

The Spring 2016 runways paved way for bold, bright and blue makeup looks. Reminiscent of the 90s, the shades on the catwalk ranged from deep cerulean to bright cyan and electric cobalt. The color blue is a natural shift from routine black and brown. It also blends really well with Indian skin tones. We give you tips on how you can commit to this trend

Start with a blue liner

Wear it with a bold streak of electric blue like Hugo Boss. Keep your makeup minimal and let your eyes do the talking. You can also contour your eyes with a striking wraparound liner paired with nude lips like Jonathan Saunders. This will make your average cat-eye much more interesting.

Move to blue shadow

Rub some blue powder over your lids to make an eye-popping statement. Chanel 2016 showed us how you can smudge blue and silver all the way to your nose and make it look chic. Missoni’s sporty tribal look had bright cyan bursts covering the lids. If you are looking to add some sparkle to your look, take a cue from Giambattista Valli Spring 2016.

Don’t forget to mix colors

Complementary colors like green and silver create a dramatic effect. Pat McGrath for Diane Von Furstenberg blended metallic green and blue eyeshadow with tons of mascara for a fresh butterfly effect. Nanette Lepore played with two shades of blue liner on upper and lower lashes to create a “Pop Art Princess” theme.

You can’t leave the lashes and eyebrows alone

A blue mascara will make the whites of your eyes look brighter. Mary Katrantzou highlighted the center of lashes with pops of sapphire blue or turquoise. Apply several coats to both top and bottom lashes to get the full effect and keep the rest of your makeup minimal.
