HOW TO WEAR SHEER FABRICS

My Style

We share a few styling tricks to wear sheer garments right

Sheer fabric and clothing is one of the coolest ways to beat the heat this summer. But it’s tricky! From mini skirts to tank tops, blouses, pyjamas, or pants – sheer seems to be the ideal choice. Wear it with care and you’re good to go. Here are a few ways to wear sheers without making a fashion faux pas

Layer sheer

Play with layers when going sheer. You can layer a simple cover up or a vest over a sheer top, which would enhance the look of the fabric worn underneath.

Pick the right innerwear

Quite often, women who wear sheer forget about the importance of wearing the right innerwear with it. An opaque underwear, closest to your skin tone, is ideal. As for bras, you can try different colours if you’re feeling audacious or you can stick to the tried-and-tested nude shade.

Go for monochromatic shades

To increase the oomph of sheer clothing, wear it in monochromatic tones. For example, a camisole worn under a sheer top of the same shade – subtle and elegant.

Balance the look

Don’t wear a sheer skirt with a sheer top. It looks over the top and not as glamorous as you probably think it does.

Choose minimal accessories

Understated accessories accentuate sheers the best – both are delicate and sophisticated. Alternatively you could stick to wearing just one piece of statement jewellery with a sheer top or lower. A simple clutch would be classy!

Wear sheer to the office, with care. Wearing sheer to work can be tricky. Be tactful – pair a sheer top with coloured bottoms or a solid coloured top with sheer sleeves for Friday dressing.
