S/S 2016 TREND: BLUSH PINK

My Style

Ladylike yet luxurious, we tell you how to bring this runway approved colour trend into your wardrobe

With the onset of summer looming, we’ve been on the hunt for that perfect hue which can make us look and feel easy, breezy and light. A look at S/S 2016 collections led us to blush pink – the signature shade for this summer. There is something about this colour that resonates glamour whilst simultaneously exuding calm.

International runways have been replete with this gorgeous pink shade. Karl Lagerfeld for Chanel provided a stroke of femininity to his tweed army with a few looks in pink with hats. Chitose Abe at Sacai embraced ethnic references on dresses paired with pale pink tops and skirts. In New York, Carolina Herrera, dove into fifty shades of pink. Sticking to her signature geometric cuts, her creations evoked a sense of freshness that are perfect for the searing heat. In Milan, Peter Dundas, in his debut collection for Roberto Cavalli, brought sass to the brand with a gorgeous light pink suede biker jacket.

Blush pink, being a light shade, requires some attention while being paired with other outfits | Here are a few interesting ways you can incorporate it in your wardrobe

Tasteful trousers

Try pink trousers with a t-shirt in any other lighter shade. Grey or white are ideal choices.

Sassy skirts

A pale pink, possibly patterned, skirt would be a great addition to your wardrobe. Pair it with other pastel shades such as pistachio green or powder blue. Another great alternative is a simple white shirt.

Accessorise

If this light hue is intimidating, start with a few accessories in soft pink. You can be formally dressed but a gorgeous pink clutch can add the required bit of quirk. Or a beaded necklace or one with precious pink stones to decorate a formal white shirt.

If you are feeling adventurous, nobody’s stopping you from going completely pink. Often, wearing the same hue from head to toe can be a great idea. You will surely have heads turn in appreciation.
