SPACES | A HOME ON LAKE COMO

Architect Marco Piva has achieved a harmony with nature through full-length windows that allow a view of Lake Como

Architect Marco Piva has achieved a harmony between the residence and nature through the use of full-length windows for this Italian home located on the beautiful Lake Como. Transparency is a key element and through the glass windows, the interiors create a dialogue with the environment. The green effect was conceived as an architectural element, present on the stairs, gardens, balconies and window sills.

Situated | in the backdrop of Lake Como, the project involved extensive internal and external renovation of the property. An abandoned construction, it required a lot of work to bring it to a semblance of order. The boundary was restored, the roof was replaced and the pavement had to be stripped. The internal and external walls had to be redone and boards used to give them adequate thickness. The indoor flooring, too, required some creative thinking.

Studio type room design

The aim | was to ensure harmony between the residence and nature. The key element was to develop a continuity between the formal structure and its framework, favoring light colors and natural materials in harmony with surrounding green areas, for a pleasant, cozy and elegant ambiance. The result is an elegant home, in harmony with nature and the environment.
