INTRODUCING COLOUR TRENDS OF THE YEAR 2019

My Home

Hear it from the experts: Sherwin Williams, Benjamin Moore and others

Channelise colours to meet your imagination and trends to zest up your home with our curated list of 2019 colour trends straight from the experts. Our tip of the read is to go beyond convention and experiment with colours in the small nooks of your space instead of just gaping at dominant walls; sometimes just a little dash of colour brings out a remarkable change in the overall aesthetics of a space.

Sherwin Williams – Paint with personality
In the words of the colour marketing director of this namesake brand, "Our intent was to ask ourselves, 'If this palette were a person, what kind of person might they be?'". And the statement quite affirms to finding a personal and aspiring, yet attainable design palette. Let’s dig into the expert’s selection for the year:

The recommended master palette consists of 42 marvellous colours, and is segmented  into six unique colour personalities. This makes it easy for you to choose a sub-palette based on your own personality.

If you’re a shapeshifter: Go muted and deep for your walls.
For the wanderer: Take clay crayons for adding a bohemian and southwestern vibe to your space.

For the British aficionado: Bring home ‘60s nostalgia with copper and gold; and merlot and greys.
If you like lively colours: Channel your idea of maximalism with a burst of colours.

For the naturalist: Have roots in the forest with earthy shades like mushroom brown, leafy green and floral pink.
For the storyteller: Let your ideas flow with the best of ancient as well as modern hues.

Benjamin Moore – The calming palette
The sovereign American paint brand has introduced a handpicked colour palette curated annually by Benjamin Moore's Colour and Design Team. This year they have a palette of 15 harmonious colors that go from pale greys to frothy pinks. The underlying intention is to provide the much needed sense of tranquility in the urban jungle.

Metropolitan AF-690 is the colour of the month and we clearly see why - it glamourizes a space without making it look over-the-top. “Metropolitan AF-690 emanates nuance, harmony and extravagant ease. Always adaptable, it softens to matte or shimmers with sheen. It's neutral. It's understated. It just is. This is color, off-duty." — Ellen O'Neill, Director of the strategic design intelligence.

Pantone – Colour of the Year
Pantone has recently revealed the colour of the year and we long for the beach already. Living Coral, also known as Pantone 16-1546, swings between the shade card of orange and peach with a golden undertone. Take the colour to any part of the house that you want to add more liveliness to; try coupling it with misty blues from ‘Under the Sea’ palette and foundation shades from ‘The Focal Point’ palette by Pantone.

On that note, always be open to experimentation - you never know when a new, rather unusual colour becomes your pet!
