A LOWDOWN OF ALL THINGS GLITZY & GLAMOROUS AT THE PARIS COUTURE WEEK

Fashion

Establishing some groundbreaking trends right from Day 1

After the wrap up of menswear shows, Paris has another reason to be in limelight with the beginning of the Autumn-Winter 2019-2020 Couture Week! Day 1 was kicked off by luxury designers RR331, Adeline André, Maurizio Galante, Yuima Nakazato, and Xuan on Sunday, June 30. The common thread running through all these shows was the romance! They employed minimal and clean lines to create sleek looks.

Maria Grazia Chiuri reimagined Dior’s classics with a new punk elegance which reflected in the styling through black net veils and berets at the show. We loved her unapologetically feminist take on the footwear as she added flats, spartan sandals, and only a few pair of kitten heels.

The front row at the Dior show was graced by Elizabeth Moss of The Handmaid’s Tale, Shailene Woodley, Celine Dion, and Priyanka Chopra. Our personal favourites were Shailene and Priyanka’s ensembles where Ms Woodley wore a steely-blue blazer and cape dress from the Spring-Summer 2019 collection and the latter was seen in Dior’s Cruise look wearing an emerald green gown with a thigh-high slit and Christian Dior insignia belt.

We are excitedly looking forward to Virginie Viard’s first couture collection for Chanel! She is Karl Lagerfeld’s successor and has worked alongside him for many years, just can’t wait to see her own style shine through the collection. Besides the collection, the historically rich location further from the Paris couture week’s area is chosen to honour Chanel’s deep roots. Another intriguing one in line is Fendi, it is also paying homage to the late designer who passed away this year in February, by hosting a show at Rome’s Palatine Hill.

With so much at schedule, we’re all eyes to make style notes for the coming season.
