Long coats were in for a major fashion moment this season, with designers featuring the classic 90s layered silhouette in clean shapes and less grungy styles. So, why do you need a long topper this season? Because it gives a smart layering option.
ASOR: Make a statement in Aarti Vijay Gupta’s funky vegetable prints and checked patterns or turn to MSMD for some monochromatic inspiration. Arpita Mehta’s floor grazing embellished version in scarlet and black made for a chic festive wear statement. Rouka’s collection had light muslin jackets with gold detailing for easy layering.

”Trends that we love: Long coats, soft trenches, sportswear inspired silhouettes and high-shine.”

If structured coats are not your thing, move to soft trenches this fall, as designers went in for graphic prints and a hint of oriental flavor. A trench is a timeless classic, and the updated version with softer fabrics makes it a perfect transitional piece.
ASOR: The 2015 version: Masaba Gupta’s classic belted silhouettes in pop prints, Arunima Majhi’s androgynous twist, Armaan Aiman’s folklore-inspired flared shapes with contrast stitches.

Sportswear inspired silhouettes have been a major mainstay of the last season, and the current one as well. (And who knows, maybe the next too?) It’s such a comfort when you can just slip into your sneakers with your LWD. But how do you wear the trend for fall? Move to glossy fabrics, fanciful knits, and muted embellishments.
ASOR: Namrata Joshipura’s iridescent collection featured bomber jackets, soft trenches and skater dresses for your ultimate sports-luxe fix. Nitin Chawla’s streetwear-inspired collection had a dose of embellished knits, zipper jackets, and oversized silhouettes. Dhruv Kapoor’s signature agender collection featured cocoon coats and sweatshirts, with black and dull gold embellishments.

Keeping in sync with the international counterparts, high shine and metallic were also shining on the home turf. But you don’t have to dip yourself in liquid gold to make a statement. Incorporate some sheen in your wardrobe with patchwork pockets, flashy prints, and sleeve hems.
ASOR: Nachiket Barve’s collection played with the concept of dark glamour featuring cropped jackets, embellished sleeves and graphic black and white prints. Take some workwear inspiration from Rara Avis, pair up a metallic midi-skirt with neutral colors. Neeta Lulla’s collection is perfect for a glitzy cocktail evening, with draped sarees, full skirts, and sequinned tunics.
