RAISE YOUR PRIDE-O-METRE WITH THESE PRIDE MONTH INSPIRED COLLECTIONS

Fashion

Make your pride choices of the month with H&M, Michael Kors, Ralph Lauren, and ASOS

Since the first-ever Pride march in 1970 the ways have gone a lot more inclusive and a lot more accepting and there’s no turning back. Reinforcing the emotion comes the initiative in the face of merchandise held by the different brands to jet set the official pride month a notch up the sartorial choices. After all, fashion speaks the loudest and these thoughtful iterations by the sartorial giants make it even more impactful.

However, the brands are not only flying the flags just in their collections but with the cast as well, having more and more faces belonging from the queer groups, and rightly so. With the notion to give back a hundred per cent profit to the community who has inspired it, this fashionable expression of summer-long celebration is all about celebrating the similarities and differences alike.

This year H&M is celebrating love, equality and diversity with a rather high-powered campaign "Stay True Stay You" with the actress and activist Laverne Cox featuring a host of clothing, shoes, and accessories – from sequin embellished rainbow tops to bodysuits with technicolour cape to ‘proud’ pool shoes – the collection will make you feel the all-inclusive love through its pool of elegant yet quirky options. But what has definitely taken the centre stage are the super chic T-shirts and crop tops lettered in phrases like ‘everybody is free to love’, ‘stay you’ and ‘proud’ that make for the perfect summer out and about looks.

The American fashion giant made its foray with a literal rainbow-themed collection inclusive of bright-on-face hues, a handful of sequins, and plenty of street-style choices that are readily available to shop at all stores until August. The most highlighted picks from the collection would be the cotton-terry hoodie dresses, beach-style clear bags, distressed white trousers with colourful thread details, leather sneakers with rainbow-lace, and the glittery shift dress, among others. Explore the #MKGO collection and play a little on the pairing game to find yourself the season’s absolute rainbow separates.

While others are making your everyday pick a pride celebration, Ralph Lauren in place is taking your sporty choices a level up with its pride-inspired Polo T-shirt collection – a pony logo in the rainbow shade card on a unisex assortment of polo shirts, T-shirts, hooded sweatshirts, caps, and tote bags are available at stores. This isn’t the brand’s first deed of support but it is the first time ever that the heritage brand has completely reworked the logo for a cause, as quoted by Gus Kenworthy, who is the face of Ralph Lauren’s Pride campaign, “It just shows that the brand is in full support of the community and that's a great feeling.”

ASOS

The ASOS x GLAAD 2019 collection is a third cut partnership to bring forth the activism-made-fashion with 50 stunning pieces that are simply too cool for summer – spread across t-shirts, track jackets, snake-print co-ord sets, neon pullovers, clear tote bags, sunglasses, and more. To add more to the inclusive goodness, the brand has gone off the bars extending from regular to plus-sizes and men-sizes.

After all, you definitely need a pride-inspired wardrobe to have its technicolour vibrancy compliment your buoyant self and of course, to show your love and support for the LGBTQ community.
