Massive hair, sky-high ponytails, and brow-high metallic shadows these are just a few of the '80s beauty staples makeup artists and hairstylists are experimenting with for Paris Couture week fall 2019.
Take, for example, Viktor & Rolf, where makeup artist Peter Philips painted each model's face with larger-than-life, spider-like cat-eyes in black with a background of silver, gold, and copper that extended far beyond the brow and toward the cheekbone. With wildly crimped long hair styled in all different directions by hairstylist Damien Boissinot, the look was intrinsically '80s. "The inspiration was a combination of punk and psychedelic," Philips told Allure. "It's a bit of glam combined with a touch of rebellion."
He used Diorshow Onstage Liner in Matte Black and the new Dior Tri-Oblique eye shadow palette in Smoky Canvas for the black aspects of the eye makeup, Diorshow Iconic Overcurl on lashes, and the new Dior Backstage eye shadow palette in Amber Neutrals for the silver, gold and copper accents. To top off the look, he applied Dior Forever Foundation and just a touch of Dior Lip Maximizer on the lips.
