ARE YOU DOING THESE COMMON MISTAKES WHILE HANGING ART PIECES?

My Home

Is your living space irking you for mysterious reasons? It might be your art piece!

Are you an avid art lover who is pretty passionate about collecting art marvels? Well, we know how much you love to bring them home to spruce up your space. But, have you ever walked into a room and sensed that something just doesn’t feel right? It might have happened to you when you loved a piece of art but it still feels like it's not fitting up right into the room. Wondering why? Well, we have decoded the mysterious reasons behind it and these are some of the most common mistakes we make while hanging art pieces on the wall. Though we never pay much attention to it but hanging art in a certain way is important to make it look aesthetically appealing. Without further ado, read some of the most common art hanging no-no’s.

Probably it’s too high

Attention, please! Hanging art is not to make your neck hurt. If your guests have to crane their neck up, then we are afraid that you are doing the most common mistake. While hanging it on the wall, it should be unified with the furniture and the overall shape of your room. Add infinite appeal to your home by making sure that you place the piece of art at an ideal height where it should be in a straight line from your eyesight. The only catch is, if you are hanging it over your sofa or bed, there should be safe distance so that you don’t bang your head-on. Take a stroll around your home, have a look at all the art pieces, fix the issue and see how magically it changes the look of your place!

Size matters

Another common mistake that you can notice is a hanging piece that’s too small or big for the scale of your space. The main purpose of hanging any piece of art should be beautification of the space and not pain to the eyes. Having a hanging piece that is proportionally wrong is nothing but waste. So how do we identify this issue? You know your wall art is too small when you have to squint to see it or too big if it is all over your eyesight. To get the right size of the art piece, you can try experimenting with different proportions by hanging up a large piece of sheet. Alternatively, if your art piece is too small for space, try moving it to more intimate locations like the hallway. Clubbing similar art pieces can also be your rescue for space and size issues.

Forcing it into a particular space

When you walk into your living space, the wall art should subtly match with your décor and home aesthetics and not act as a distraction. However, this is a trap that we all tend to fall in, forcing a wall painting or artwork kills the charm of the home.  Just because you spontaneously bought that Moroccan glass work painting or have inherited your great aunt’s 1950s landscape painting doesn’t mean you have to hang it above your dining table and make it look indecorous! But don’t worry, you can get rid of this dilemma by rotating your art pieces as it brings freshness and also changes the whole vibe of your place. So, next time when you are having a gala dinner party, you can hang your travel souvenir to flaunt or when there is a festive gathering at your place, you can choose the traditional one to magnify the vibes. Easy right?
