GET READY FOR THE GARDEN PARTY

My Style

Prepping your skin, hair and wardrobe for the right garden-party look

Garden parties are fun and though usually casual, here’s how to look your most refreshed self when going for one. From hair to makeup, what to wear on your skin and how to dress for the garden party - here is a complete look book that we have conjured to make it easy for you to dress for the occasion.

The Face | We would suggest the nude look, simply because it’s a garden party and looking as natural and fresh as possible should be your aim. However, you may choose to use a healthy dose of blushfor a naturally flushed look, with nude-peach lips and caramel eyes. For the face, an oil-free tinted moisturizer would be a great accompaniment.

If instead you want a more sun-kissed look use a slight bit of bronzer on the cheeks, nose and forehead. You may add a little blush with shimmer on these areas too.

Instead of dark kohl, use eyeshadow to line the lower and upper lashes for a sultry effect. Keep the eyes as bare as possible. If you want to use eyeshadow, best suited colours are neutral tones, light golds in pale matte shades and plenty of lengthening mascara. Taupe shades help to mattify the look on your eyes.

The Hair | Breezy and relaxed should be your look, so for the hair we would recommend anti-frizz products. Air dry the locks if they are curly. If you have straight hair, you could check out tutorials on how to DIY messy bohemian wavy hairdos, with minimal hair accessories. Hair styles that best suit the garden party would be topknots, messy low buns, long flowing wavy hairdos and pixie cuts with embellishments.

The Clothes | Go for cool colours for the day and warm tones for the night. Flowy dresses with mirror work, maxi skirts with tank tops, sarongs with bikini top and a white shirt would be great for a day event. A wrap dress in cotton, or even a sheer sari are great options for the evening equivalent.

The Add-ons. Must have accessories are loop earrings in metal, a thin neck piece to make a statement, a clutch in hand or a tote bag, and comfortable ballerinas and flats. Don’t forget sunshades for the daytime affair. Have fun girls!
