‘CRAVINGS: HUNGRY FOR MORE’

Chrissy Teigen’s new cookbook title says it all

Chrissy Teigen’s second innings as a celebrity home cook brings us Cravings: Hungry for More this September, and we can’t wait to dive right into it! If her last book and Instagram feed is anything to go by, Teigen understands the magic of comfort food and how. Like her first, this is not a book for lean meals or diet fads, but for the hungry human looking for a hearty supper.

As our dog eared copies of Cravings, part one, attests, we keep returning for the dollop of humour that Chrissy serves: this is soul food, truly. We know that Teigen’s in top form when a Friendsgiving at Taco Bell leads to a recipe whose chief ingredient is Doritos. The book is full of her signature humour and makes for an engaging read.

Chock full of decadent recipes like French Onion Soup with Croissant Croutons, the second cookbook champions flavour and lives up to its title of satiating many cravings. While she continues the theme of luxurious recipes that leave your family groaning at the waistband, this book is also inspired by her travels.

In Teigen’s words, “It’s... more inspired by being able to travel in the last few years; it’s a lot brighter… I like light, bright foods, beautiful foods, as long as they’re nice and hearty… still… I lean toward Indian food, Asian food, Moroccan food.”  The Asian influence is in no way subtle with plenty of Thai inspired recipes, twists on classics like the Grilled Vietnamese Banh Mi and her love for coconut milk shining through, courtesy her Philippino heritage.

We are excited to try the Roasted Butternut & Pomegranate Salad, a reflection of the changes motherhood has brought. The ritual of family dinners with children has changed Teigen’s agenda a little with what she calls, “healthy-ish” recipes. There are plenty of scrumptious salads and tips on clean eating, a departure for the home cook who loves to indulge. She also includes recipes that require 30 minutes or less and use 3-5 ingredients, for families who sometimes have to eat on the run.

Crack open the book with a glass of wine and join her riotous adventure through culinary worlds, with a splash of humour and recipes to wow guests at your next dinner party!
