Move over Marsala | The Pantone color trends for 2016 are rose quartz and serenity- a depiction of blurring gender lines

The Pantone colors are finally out! Warm Rose quartz and cool Serenity, reflecting a sense of harmony, wellness, and peace. Pantone also makes a statement, through this double pick, by tying it to the wave of gender equality; the colors are a depiction of blurring the gender lines. Let us give you a little scoop of how you might want to consider making them a key feature for your home for the coming year

The perfect match

Both colors are washed out and have a calm and relaxing feel. They work well for today’s home as they are traditional gender colors which are altered by making them gender neutral. Mixing the two colors, in a subtle way, will add hints of color that work especially well in a neutral home using grey, black and white. They also work for a more sophisticated palette with the use of silver, gold and the growing trend of mixed metals.

Go subtle or go bold

The Pantone colors might be cotton candy colors but they can make a bold impact by using upholstery or painting your walls using one of the colors. If you are still unsure, incorporate them in small ways through flowers, vases, cushions, throws or, possibly, a small piece of artwork to get a sense of how they work in your space.

French Decor

If modern and contemporary decor isn’t your thing then try a shabby chic look with French decor influences. Both rose quartz and serenity can easily be found in traditional French rococo decor and have been used as wallpaper, plastered walls, upholstery and other such fine details.
