From theatrical cylindrical bags to buttery soft slouchy leather, the Chanel Spring/Summer 2020 show was high on bag glam!

The Chanel Spring/Summer 2020 show was nothing short of a theatrical extravaganza. No, we are not talking about the avant-garde histrionics that late Karl Lagerfeld induced, but the show had an uninvited guest on the ramp, which was gently escorted by none other than supermodel Gigi Hadid.

But apart from all the drama, Chanel's Spring/Summer 2020 show, helmed by the debutant Virginie Viard, was a love letter to the 1960s Paris. The sparkling stage witnessed a series of trends - hot pants, edgy skirt suits and costume jewellery so bright, you'd need sunglasses to see them. And apart from all the fervour, there were some gorgeous bags that helped in completing that 'Chanelesque look' for the model. Whether it was large bags enveloped under the shoulder or super-mini string bags that would even make fitting lipstick look difficult, here are the top 5 bags that were the hero of the Chanel S/S 2020 show.

Tweed Bags & Quilts

Sure, tweed bags have become a norm in all Chanel designs but these ones have been a welcome change from the Cable Car clutch purse, the Chanel Gas Can design and the infamous round beach bag clutches that were once an Instagram favourite. The design was nothing different; while some featured sequins and ruthenium-finish, others with a large flap, wool tweed and buttery soft quilts that even model Gigi Hadid was seen wearing during the show.

Cylindrical Bag

Chanel is famous for its quirky bags and for this Spring Summer 2020 show, it was the cylindrical bag that ruled the roost. We think it was a welcome change to those colourful fanny packs and micro bags that have been all over social media since the past season. This one by Chanel, came with a wrist flap and a string attached, which not only makes it a great utility bag but also quite a stylish one.

Oversized Handbag

Everyone from Priyanka Chopra to Gywneth Paltrow has been embracing the oversized handbags trend. For the ramp show too, oversized bags of different kinds- handbag, top flap even envelope style, were carried with a youthful effervescence, thanks to models Kaia Gerber and Rianne Van Rompaey. Brownie points to make it match with contrasting skirt-suits. Take a bow, Virginie Viard!

Modern Mini Bag

We confess this might not even fit your lipstick in it, let alone your smartphone! But it is quite cute and comes with a quilted detailing and the most coveted Chanel logo. We foresee this as the most worn bag during summer besides stylishly securing your loose change!
