TREND ALERT | JEWELRY TRENDS FROM AUTUMN-WINTER’19 THAT YOU SHOULD TALLY YOUR TROVE WITH

Your runway-inspired Jewelry guide for this fall

It’s that time of the year again when the air gets cooler, drinks get hotter and hues of orange and brown surround us, yes, it’s fall and we can’t wait to transit into this new season as fashionably as possible. Let’s do so by catching up with something that isn’t completely associated with the sartorial category but the absence of which would make your attire dreadfully boring. You know what we’re talking about (you’ve read the title), yes, Jewelry! So, it’s time we look back at the autumn-winter collection of the year and get in check with what’s fab and drab in our jewelry trove.

Multiple Dangling Necklaces

The ‘dangle’ trend has sort of always been with us in the name of experimental fashion, but this season amp it up and let your necklaces make the fashion statement. Take a cue from the multiple necklaces – in all shapes and sizes – which were seen on the AW19 runway looks of Alexander McQueen, Chanel, and Versace; what was pretty foreseeable then is now a ruling trend. So, start mixing and matching your necklaces to find the perfect look you want, because why wear just one extraordinary piece and look ordinary, when you could where multiple and look exceptional.

Delicate Trinkets

Minimalism has been bracketed with the fall season for so long now that we can’t imagine the season without a few ornately modest pieces in our wardrobe. And, why not, after all the elemental vibe of the season is a heads up for tiny delicate ornaments. Get inspired with an array of these minutely crafted beauties from Versace, Dolce and Gabbana, Prada, and Valentino displayed in various forms like fine chains with little pendants, a simple diamond choker necklace, little flower earrings, and lastly in intricately crafted gold dangles.

The Pearl Phenomena

This year certainly has been the year of pearls and the exciting journey of the pearl comeback has got us here, where we’re expecting a range of pearl jewelry to explode across the fall trends as seen on the runways that were filled with several appearances of pearly ornaments (so much that we almost forgot to keep the count). From Chanel’s pearly semi-opera chains, Dior’s sequined detailed choker, Emilia Wickstead’s distinctive chandelier earrings to the absolutely minimal Givenchy’s asymmetrical earrings, pearls marked their presence in the autumn trends earlier on. It’s just the right time to reinforce it!

Luxurious Matched Sets

There is a certain sophisticated charm to coordinated jewelry sets that bring out the best facial features by symmetrically framing them. This year fall runway looks seemed following that and showcased the brilliance of matched sets yet again. With Dolce and Gabbana’s exuberant earrings and princess necklace with adorned stones, Paco Rabanne’s crystal lavaliere necklace and chandelier earrings, and other voluminous matching sets from Chanel, it’s evident that this trend will be going around for more than just fall.

Edgy Spiked Sets

If you’re into unconventional jewelry and breaking rules, this trend has come just-in-time! Edgy jewelry was a major part of this year’s fall collection and we totally are into it – spikes, ear armours, multiple earrings, and many other forms of spunky jewelry were a part of many collections and we can’t wait to see all the other experimental styles come to life. Some looks to take inspiration from are Alexander McQueen’s miscellaneous loaded necklaces and earrings, Gucci’s spiked masked and choker, and Gypsy Sport’s spiked hoops.

Asymmetric Earrings

Why weren’t mismatched earrings always trending? They look super chic, can be experimented in so many ways, and are so easy to pull off. This trend is a hit already with so many looks in the fall collection like pearl and chain earrings by Givenchy, one-sided ear armour by Gucci, and twisted metal plate dangles by Hellessy. Fun tip: You can pick out one earring each from two distinct yet similar pairs (either in tone or texture) and voila!

Chunky Chain Links

Luxurious and heavy chains are the statement pieces this year, and we advise you to keep a few pieces in your fall wardrobe for fashionably linking your way into the season. Chain links in all shapes and sizes were spotted on the fall runway and we’re seeing them gain popularity since then. The statement looks were made by the Alberta Ferretti huge chain-linked earrings, Bottega Veneta’s multiple gold chain links, and the huge marvellously twisted gold chain choker by JW Anderson.
