GET INSPIRED BY NEENA AND MASABA GUPTA’S COSY AND PRISTINE MUMBAI ABODE

My Home

Step inside the serene house of remarkable actor and designer duo where each element speaks tranquillity at its best

Minimal, quaint and peaceful! These are the three aspects around which the world of interiors is revolving recently. And if we have to take cues from the Bollywood fames, it is quite interesting to see how most of them are taking a minimalistic and simple approach towards their interior aesthetics. Similarly, one of India’s most loved designers Masaba Gupta and her bold mother Neena Gupta defines their home with simplicity and honesty. The mother-daughter duo recently opened their Mumbai home doors in Asian Paints ‘Where the heart is’ video series which took us through their dining area, living room and bedroom. Perched right next to the beach and sitting beautifully on the fourth floor, the house is covered in white and is completely pristine.

Walkthrough the interiors

Textured white-washed walls, fuss-free couches and vintage-looking shining marble floor, Neena and Masaba’s house is a symphony of clear ideas. As you walk through their living space, you can sense peace and earthy vibe. In the video, Masaba beautifully explains her abode in a few words, “Safe space where I shed my skin in.” The house is just a minute walk away from the Juhu beach--one of the biggest reasons for Neena to choose this house. And in Mumbai, nothing can be more heavenly than having a house facing the sea, right? Taking all the cool breeze in, their living room soaks in much of natural light and holds a large L-shape couch both having their favourite spots in it. The large French style window in the living area makes a great spot for some ‘me’ time with a book and a cup of hot tea. Though the apartment doesn’t hold much of décor elements, Neena has added a hint of quirkiness with few loud art-déco and wooden furniture.

One of the oldest and loudest elements in the house is the large wood frame painted in white which beautifully borders gigantic paintbrush gifted to Neena by M F Hussain. You can also see a few pops of colours that come through unexpected pieces like huge painting with colourful faces or pillows and rugs with bright colours. Moving further to Neena’s bedroom, her large vintage style minimalistic room has a dash of red, which is a rustic looking red cabinet. Every aspect of the house is inspiring and reflects the creative minds who resides in. We also got hooked to their white vanity and a special wooden hanger to hold all of Neena’s bangles.
