Known as the yellow city of Mexico, this small little colonial town of Izamal in Yucatán is painted all yellow. As sunny and vibrant as it looks, you will be thrilled to see that each nook and corner of the city turns out to be a perfect Instagrammable background. And for your explorer soul, Izamal hosts numerous of the cathedral events for you to visit, all painted in yellow of course. Wondering who painted the entire city yellow? Since 1000 BC, Izamal has been a pilgrimage where the locals offer their prayers to the Sun God. So, by choosing to paint their house in yellow tint they showed respect to their deity and that is how the whole city is dipped in yellow.
