Fashion

From comfy platform shoes to pleather outfits, navigate through an overwhelming number of trends

Every year, fashion month takes the world of fashion by storm as some of the most brilliant designers of the world vie for onlookers' attention to define trends for the season to come. This year was no different except a strong feminist distinction where most of the trends leaned towards highlighting the strength of a woman and aimed at making the dress-up game easier for the coming Summer. But what about this season? Wouldn’t it be great if you could pull off the SS20 trends this Fall season? Yes, you actually can and we are here to help you map the biggest trends that were seen on the runway. So, get ready and make these trends a part of your current wardrobe because we aren’t waiting for Spring-summer to come, are we?

Comfortable Shoes

You will be so thankful for this one! According to the majority of shoes spotted at the runways of SS20, heels are out and comfortable shoes are in. But don’t worry, this trend is not here to take the extra inches away from you. Rather the fashion week shoes were all about easy elevation and platform clogs, sneakers, flip-flops, boots and much more. Moreover, the open-toe flatform sandals were the most popular and the best pick of the designers.

Lime Green

Talking about colours, what can be more refreshing than lime green? Designers like Area, Tibi, Jonathon Simkhai, and Rosetta Getty featured the colour prominently in their collections; although ideally envisioned for coming summers because of its pleasing freshness to the eyes as it is to the skin, this cool colour tone can be easily introduced to compliment the intense-hues of Fall wardrobe. Think of this citrus shade with your leather pants and brown-burgundy knitwear cardigans!

Mega Fringes

While fringes have been ubiquitous in the fashionscape, SS20 introduced them in a new avatar. Taking a cue from New York Fashion Week – the bigger is the better! So, no more of those small detailings or trims because the fringe has become an extension of the garment itself. Be it Zimmerman’s seashell fringes for beachy outfits, sequined ones from Area’s show or Gabriela Hearst’s upcycled fringes made from last season’s leftovers, this creative take on fringes is here to glam up your wardrobe. Although these outfits are hooked far from this season, you can still choose fringes for your Fall dresses, jackets’ sleeves, accessories, fringed boots, etc

Pleather

Matrix-inspired leather jackets, coats, and pants are certainly a Fall-winter thing and all the style-setters are eyeing on it! We know leather accessories have always been an intrinsic part of every fashionista’s closet but the collection of SS20 seemed inclined towards its more cruelty-free alternative – pleather. So, go the faux leather route for this Fall season!

Fanny Packs

This has been an 'on and off' fad in the world of fashion but up until Spring Summer 2020, fanny packs seem to have cemented their presence. Another reason to adore the trend is that Fanny Packs are not just the middle-aged man’s travel companion anymore, they have been given a well-deserved makeover as a chic accessory. Simply turn to streetwear looks with Fanny-packs.

Sleek Hair and Bold Lips

Sleek hair was the biggest hair trend of SS20 fashion weeks and so was the red bold lips trend. Be it soft lose hair, gelled ponytails or flawless braids, there are so many cool options for everybody with an intense shade of red to go on your lips! Isn’t this a relief to know that these hair and makeup trends are fairly doable?

Exaggerated Collars

The collars seemed to keep getting bigger and more detailed as the fashion month progressed. We saw a fair share of big Peter Pan collars and some were even embellished with embroidery and ahead we also saw Eyelet edging on collars. This exaggerated take on the collars is so intriguing that it truly deserves to be tried right now, right this season – be it the velvets or knitwear.

Bubble Sleeves

We saw bubble skirts dominating the runways of AW 2019 and now guess what? Bubble sleeves made its way into the fashion world, this puffy trend was seen all over the ramps of SS 2020. While this one might be difficult to incorporate as it is not so functional for Fall-Winter, but you can definitely try padded shoulders or slightly ballooned sleeves for your jackets and blouses.

Sleeveless Suiting

Powerful vests are undisputably cool according to the mandate at SS20 fashion weeks. Sleeveless vests are not only more comfortable than full sleeves blazers, but they are also more transeasonal and help you transition in stylish ways. We spotted short pinstripe vests, white shawl collar knitted vests, and even printed alternatives.

XXL Totes

Totes are back into the fashion game and they are larger than ever. Plastic, leather, straw, the big bags were everywhere in various materials and we are calling them XXL totes and planning to get one of each, this season itself!
