Time to pre-think the upcoming Spring fashion

September has been brimming with New York Fashion Week's most-awaited trends for Spring 2020. Designers like Alexander Wang, Marc Jacobs, Tibi, among others ruled the runways and took the fashion show to another level of sartorial feed. The New York Fashion Week oozed out plenty of expressive elements, be it oversized trousers with jogger inspired touch or bodysuits in sculpted silhouettes, and we are sure that these spotted trends will be the staple element of every fashion enthusiast comes the season! The entire New York showcase not only owned a unique wave of style but a good wearability quotient as well. It is time to have a quick recap from the runways of New York Fashion Week and take our notes!

Baggy Trousers

If you ever wondered what does the amalgamation of creativity and utility look like, the answer is baggy trousers. Yes, you may feel underwhelmed that it has been borrowed from last year’s cargo pants but precisely these are a unique take on comfort wear with a style that takes a cue from the sportswear! Plus, you can spot an array of colours to pick from. For New York Fashion Week, Tibi has presented curved hem trousers with more structure and volume to it, whereas Dion Lee went gender-fluid with slouchy yet well-tailored trousers. On the other hand, Alexander Wang's take was all about high waist silhouette, corduroy fabric, and elasticated hems.

Chic Stripes

If you believed our say and invested in striped outfits, you're in a definitive place because the classic stripes are expected to stay for next year's spring as well. The best part is that all kinds of stripes are ruling the runways of New York Fashion Week, be it thick or thin, circular or straight or even monochromes. For exemplary creation have a look at Marc Jacobs' designs where he introduced blazer and pants with white stripes on darker canvas. On the other hand, the 3.1 Phillip Lim played with textures and fabrics keeping the silhouettes flowy and oversized. Dion Lee is also no step back; the brand elevated the show with a myriad style of stripes - from asymmetrical to bold stripes – on shirts, skirts, and blazers.

Flowy Drapes

Drape outfits are again making a foray into Spring 2020’s fashion as this particular silhouette style flowed effortlessly amongst a number of collections – from midi dresses to capes to trousers – you can spot the carefree evening outfits with pleat detailing by Proenza Schouler, Sies Marjan, and Oscar de la Renta who demonstrated the trend in crepe, silk, jersey, and chiffon fabric.

Sculpted Bodysuits

The bodysuits are not just destined for the beach but this time it's here to break the monotony of your wardrobe with more of versatile elements that make it wearable even for the club. It is indeed justified to say that 2020’s bodysuit trend takes its inspiration from futuristic cuts and eccentric colour codes (even florals can be seen as a focal element!). Take for instance the showcase by VFiles, Chromat, Collina Strada among others.

Exaggerated collars

Another great frenzy is of the over the board detailing on collars, be it the eyelet edging, cutwork, crochet-knits, sheer-lace or oversized, embellished designs. Take your sartorial inspiration from brands like Simone Rocha and brock collection if exaggerated collars make way to your style interest.
