Inside Deepika Padukone & Ranveer Singh's stunning nuptials

Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh’s wedding, it seems, has been written in the stars. The romance that began on celluloid had a real-world union this week with the world begging for more! Such is the media juggernaut unleashed by this event that even the BBC found it fit to feature a video on their adorable romance leading to the grand nuptials at the picturesque Lake Como in Italy:

Believed to have dated for six years, the star couple has headlined three films together - Ram Leela, Bajirao Mastani and Padmaavat. The epic romances that unravelled on the silver screen translated into one of the most followed Bollywood romances, ending with a fairytale destination wedding.

The wedding, held at the stunning Villa del Balbianello, was an extremely private affair with only family and close friends attending. Consider the number of invitees - 45 - mind-boggling when you realise that our usual guest list for a wedding runs into the hundreds!

While it has been hard to get an hour-by-hour breakdown of the happenings at Lake Como, pre-wedding ceremonies reportedly included a traditional mehendi and sangeet. The sangeet set the couple up for more envy, as Ranveer comforted Deepika post an emotional reaction to legend Shubha Mudgal’s soul-stirring rendition of a favoured thumri. The flamboyant groom also reportedly played the dhol at his own sangeet, and sang and danced to the song ‘Tu Ne Maari Entriyaan’ from his film ‘Gunday’. We wouldn't expect less from the ever-energetic Bollywood leading man!

The week on the Lake witnessed two ceremonies, the first a Konkani style affair following Padukone’s heritage on Wednesday followed by a Sindhi ceremony on Thursday. Deepika's parents Ujjala and Prakash Padukone and sister Anisha led the ladkiwale, while the baaraat included Ranveer Singh's parents and sister Ritika. For the Konkani ceremony, the bride stunned in an Advaya sari from the House of Angadi, Bangalore, which was gifted to her by her mother as per tradition, and the sari was beautifully enhanced by a Sabyasachi veil.  The bride and groom glowed with all the love and positive energy, but we also could not peel our eyes from the Sabyasachi signature ensembles, glorified by both. Don’t they look simply divine?

The couple hosted a reception in Bengaluru at The Leela Palace on November 21st. Ranveer Singh’s sister, Ritika Bhavani will be throwing an intimate dinner party for the bride and groom in Mumbai on November 24th at the Grand Hyatt Hotel followed by a reception for the Bhavanis’ family and friends on November 28th. Another grand reception is being organized in Mumbai on December 1st for Bollywood bigwigs, friends and associates. It is sure to be a star-studded event with the likes of Karan Johar, Shahrukh Khan, Farah Khan and Sanjay Leela Bhansali definitely on the list. We’re looking forward to more: the few images we’ve gathered from Lake Como cannot satiate our thirst for details on this gorgeous couple’s special celebrations!

Deepveer squad or not, how would that matter to not muse onto this heavenly wedding? We are drooling over the setup to eternity, be it tea rose tinsels or the absolutely perfect celebration of details – let us come clear – their Sindhi and Konkani wedding have got ample of brilliance to learn from and of course the cordial exchange has made it even beyond…uh, words won’t suffice! Take in the inspiration in full force, for this has to be on your list for that once in a lifetime sterling moment, nothing more whimsical.

This nuptial is indeed a kind we’ve never been more excited about. Seems it has all the reasons, isn’t it?
