Fashion

Have you shopped from this remarkable home décor collection yet?

Looking to redecorate your home? Even if you’re not having the slightest scope, the new line of home décor from Ritu Kumar might convince you to reconsider it. Popular for her clothing line inspired from historic Indian heritage and culture, Ritu Kumar recently delved into Home décor with her new range ‘Ritu Kumar Home’ and it’s everything a décor enthusiast wishes for. Taking inspiration from various historic designs like Jamavar which is Kashmir’s woven shawls’ signature patterns, Rajasthan’s famous booti and bagh prints, Andhra Pradesh’s Kalamkari prints, Uttar Pradesh’s jaali patterns among others, this collection gives a wholesome experience of the aesthetic history of India without leaving a space for even a fraction of disappointment. The collection delves into tracing the intricate motifs onto all sections of home décor, from cushions to bedsheets to even utensils.

Though the collection as a whole is a true work of art and full of masterpieces, we have picked a few favourites to give you a taste of all possible cultural approaches the designer has aimed for.

Kansa

Tastefully crafted this cutlery collection is made of brass, unlike the usual brass utensils you could have seen so far – its metal has a unique bronze-copper tint. In earlier days brass was a very commonly used metal in Rajasthan to make utensils and even before was used for the royalties, so of course, traditional dishes served in this look royally appetizing and takes the epicurean experience to the next level. Apart from its utilitarian benefits, the utensils project contrasting shade into your Kitchen and aesthetic pleasure when brought on to the table. The collection’s range of cutlery includes the glass, bowls, and plates. It also includes alluring casseroles and a sophisticated tiffin.

Jaamevar

Inspired by Jamavars – the traditional artistic Kashmiri shawls known for their intricately woven floral motifs – this collection gives your home an aristocratic look. Along with the presumable textile products in bedding and table linens the collection also features an exceptional votive candleholder called the Black Opium which is sure to spruce up the look of your drawing room table. The textile-based product like cushions and quilts are no less – with zardozi work on soft linens, these are not just decoratively beautiful but pleasant to touch every time you walk by them.

Jal Mahal

This collection is an ode to the architectural and scenic beauty of Jal Mahal, which is situated in the middle of the Mann Sagar Lake in Jaipur. The specifically chosen shades of brilliant blue and golden yellow clearly remind us of the golden heritage in the middle of the blue water and skies. Also, the beautiful embroidery does complete justice to velvet soft linen brightening up the colours even more. The collection includes cosy quilts, soft pillows, and table linen that in our opinion would look lovely with the Kansa collection.

Awadh

Based on Mughlai block printing of Awadh, this collection is one of the beautiful things you will see in Black and White. With minute complex designs in subtle elegant styles, this is a collection of ‘memories from a Mughal palace’. Historic and modern at the same time the collection has detailed cutlery pieces and elegant table lines which definitely build up a picturesque ambience.
